The Decklist Out makeover + off to Japan!

Hello everyone!
Hammertime will rock the Japan!

Tomorrow is a big day for me as I’ll leave to Japan tomorrow! I’ll visit Tokyo and hopefully attend 1 or 2 Gym Challenges there with my hilariously outdated Hammertime and hope to learn more about Japanese metagame and tournament atmosphere in general. That way I can finally continue my Eye on Japan entries with my own experiences. These things will of course be in my blog only as I don’t like writing about SixPrizes Underground about Japanese stuff – that info should be available for everyone.

Since tomorrow will be a big day for me, I wanted to give you something equally big – and updated list of all the metagame decks! My last update of The Decklist Out was a lackluster as the Cities season was in the beginning, but now all the lists are highly developed and very competitive. Also, the hottest decks now list has been updated and new decks like Klinklang/EX and Quad Sigilyph has made into the list of metagame decks.

I’ll try to keep you updated on my tournaments in Japan in my Facebook and Twitter, so if you aren’t following me yet, now it’s the time!

If there is anything you would like to know about Japanese meta or something else, let me know in the comments, I’ll be checking them regularly while I’m in Japan! Now, to the decklists!

1 Metagame decks

In the metagame decks section you can found every deck that is considered as metagame, which I’ve written about. Metagame means decks that are widely known and played and have done fairly well at the tournaments. The metagame decks section has 2 sections:

- The hottest decks now! has the lists of the decks that are considered as the best decks in the current format.

- Metagame decks section has the lists of the rest of the decks that are currently considered as metagame and are viable for tournaments.

The hottest decks now section covers the decks that are the most played currently and have succeeded the best in the current format. 2. So you're playing Blastoise with 0 Energy Retrievals..

  3. I noticed no energy search in darkrai, though I would play 2 in a deck with 11+ energy slots and 1 with 10-

    1. The issue is Darkrai only uses Darkness Energy, so if an Energy Search is just going to grab a Darkness Energy, why not just use Darkness Energy over the Energy Search?

    2. I'd play 1 energy search because then you can junk hunt for it.

    3. because sableye can grab energy search back if it has to.

  4. If you're going to Japan you must as well play the Japanese format. I recommend playing Plasma Klinklang because it prevents all Exs from attacking which puts most decks at a disadvantage. This deck uses Cobalion Ex and Cobalion as the main attackers which works really well for this deck. With Plasma Energy released over there Cobalion works to get rid of it easily. This deck also runs 2 Shift Gear Klinklang to move energy which also means Max Potion is used. Registeel Ex is used as a tech which is really good for this deck because of it's spread damage. For a draft list look on Pokegym. I recommend this deck because 2 of my friends Japan, Tokyo played the deck and won their League where there was Keldeo/Blastoise, Hammertime, Landorus/Mewtwo etc.

  6. I'd love to see a complete article on Ho-Oh. Pooka has pioneered it to success, and people are following his lead. It's among the more fun decks to play, but it's nice to have a starting list instead of either watching Pooka enough to copy his decklist, or simply trial and error.

  7. I don't agree with the Klinklang deck: Groudon and Kyogre may have been good durning last US nationals but the format chaged after it. 2 new sets and a mini set where released and also it's now BW-on. So I say:

    -Kyogre EX
    -Groudon EX

You have many options to what to add for them instead
maybe a second Terrakion (EX or normal)or
    Sigliph/Mewtwo EX/Virizion/Cobalion

Hope I helped you a bit (thanks for the article)

    1. Why are you talking Groudon and Kyogre if no one said anything about it. Anyways I agree with the Klinklang deck. I've seen deck lists and the have the potential to ruin every other Ex deck.

    2. Which Klinklang don't you agree with? His or the other person's Plasma Klinklang recommendation?

      Delete
    3. It shouldn't be groudon or kyogre. It really should be landorus ex

I also don't agree with about every decklist above running 4 N and 4 Bianca
