Still going strong |
I’ve finally made – updated The Decklist Out to match the current format. When I did it I understood how many competitive decks there really were in the past format compared to the current format. If I was going to win a tournament, there would only be 3 different decks, I would choose from. All the decks that are in “the hottest decks now” section are good deck choices for a highly competitive player. I’ve also spent a long time testing all the lists in this update, so I hope you make the most out of them.
If you notice any errors in the lists, just let me know. Also, if you feel like some deck is missing from the list, let me know, so I can add it to there. The new set is coming in the near future, so The Decklist Out will be edited soon after that one, just after the U.S. Regionals.
I know many of you are waiting for an Eye on Japan – entry, so I’ll try to make a new one soon. I’ll also try something new for the Eye on Japan –entries, so I hope you’ll like it. Maybe I’ll finally get an interview from a Japanese player.
Anyways, let me know if you find anything to fix in The Decklist Out!

I do feel like Darkrai/Terrakion/Mewtwo and Empoleon/Accelgor deserve a mention in metagame decks. As well as Gothitelle/Accelgor variants, though that one might be more deserving of rogue.
ReplyDeleteWoo! updated!
I'm surprised there's no mention of Straight Empoleon, or Stunfisk in the Empoleon/Terrakion deck. I've seen more decks with Stunfisk do well than ones with Virizion.
ReplyDeleteIn the Terrakion EX/Mewtwo EX/Bouffalant, you forgot to put EX after Terrakion. Also, some of the pokemon sub-headings are in the titles.
ReplyDeleteI'm just curious, is there some way to access the old Decklist Out? If I wanted to play with the old format in a few years, I could see myself being really glad to have all those lists archived in a central location. There are always World Championship decks of course, but that's only 4 decks out of the dozen or so playable decks last format. Maybe I'm just missing something, but if not I would really love it if you would post it again (or better still, a post-worlds update, which would be incredible.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work,
Unfallible
the one rayeels list is 62 cards
ReplyDelete(1.1.3)
Thanks a lot everyone for the comments! I'll edit the errors in The Decklist Out as soon I'm able to access the control panel (later today). For some reason Blogger doesn't want to work with me, haha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Mark & Cruelbear, I'll add those decks as soon as I have time to test them, thanks for the suggestions!
Hey Esa, just wondering about your decision to go for the heavy Raikou build in Zeels rather than the more 'traditional' builds? I'm wondering myself about which is better, but so far most people have been going for the less Raikou-focused one - why do you like this one?
ReplyDelete- Esa, where are the emolga in eel-decks??
ReplyDelete- Ho-Oh skeleton is great! 7 attackers is the right number (full mewtwo or tornadus ex and some build with terrakion niv and registeel or shaymin ex too!)
- Garchomp/Terrakion is a common deck in BR and I think you can put it in this article.
- Garbodor durant is a real tier3 deck that can a place here, in next format the ants will be more efficient and offer a preview on the build can be great for many players.
One more time, good job. Not easy with your present planning. When will you go on competition?
Just curious but why did you drop eviolites completely from your Eels lists? In my testing those are what makes the Darkrai match ups winnable.
ReplyDeleteBori: I think that the standard-standard Zeels isn't nearly as strong as a Raikou EX heavy, but it may be that it's because of my metagame. Raikou EX heavy deck will have an upper hand in a mirror match. I'll be making a Eelektrik article soon, so there I'll explain a bit more in-depth about why I like Raikou EX.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous1: I say maybe to the Terrakion/Garchomp since Landorus EX is coming, but no to Durant/Garbodor. Durant is just too unplayable at the moment, because of the prizing factor.
Anonymous2: Eviolites have been a nuisance for me as soon as everyone started to play Tool Scrappers. Eviolite is a bit situatiotonal, because if your opponetn plays Tool Scrappers, Eviolites go in vain, but if your opponent doesn't play Tool Scrapper, you have an edge. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad and I just don't want to play a card that isn't consistently good. Also, I haven't found Eviolite that useful against Darkrai EX, because they always just target down the Eelektriks, which don't really get anything from Eviolites.
Thanks for questions and comments everyone! New article coming soon!
Hey Esa, do you plan to update this once Boundaries Crossed is released? My season is done until cities, so it'd be appreciated to get some material to start testing with :)
ReplyDeleteFirst off, love this! It's so useful and really helpful. However, I just noticed Darkrai EX/Terrakion is not on the list. I think it is a powerful tier one deck that at least deserves some mention. Thanks for listening!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI am relatively new to pokemon! Saying that I used to collect the base sets but who didnt?! Anyway I'm wondering if I could get your thoughts on my darkrai // Hydreigon Deck as Ive noticed that it is very similar to the one you've listed in this article! (which btw has 15 Pokemon, not 14! Lol sorry to point that out!)
So here is my list! (keep in mind I've built this around being consistent as possible!)
Pokemon:-
3 - Darkrai EX
1 - Shaymin EX
3 - Hydreigon (Dragons Exalted)
1 - Zweilos (Dragons Exalted)
3 - Deino (NVI)
3 - Sableye
- 14
Supporter/Trainer:-
4 - Juniper
4 - N
3 - Bianca
4 - Pokemon Catcher
4 - Dark Patch
3 - Rare Candy
3 - Ultra Ball
3 - Level Ball
4 - Max Potion
2 - Random Receiver
- 34
Energization:-
8 - Dark Energy
4 - Blend Energy
- 12
Basically this set-up makes playing this deck even easier in my opinion. What do you think? :D
Also I have the thought of swapping the 2 Random Recievers with 2 Enhanced Hammers! To really hit them where if hurts! + I actually find this keeps the deck moving better than playi g the receivers but the hammers are proving useable as soon as you draw them! Also I've rarely found myself stuck without a supporter running 4-4-3 junipers / Ns / Biancas!
