The Decklist Out updated for Plasma Storma and States!

A new staple for a lot of decks!

Hello everyone!

States are nearing in mad-fast and it’s been almost a month since the release of Plasma Storm, so it’s about a time for me to update The Decklist Out with Plasma Storm. As always, I hope these lists will help you to test for the upcoming States Championships and figure out what’s the correct play.

I’ll probably be doing a States-metagame prediction entry also before the States begin, but in the meanwhile I hope these lists will be useful. Also, I have my next Eye on Japan article coming soon as well, so look for it. Even though I’ve busy schedule in my life, I have somehow managed to keep busy schedule in my blog as well, which I’m very happy about!

Anyways, enough chit-chat. Let’s take a look at the new decklists that Plasm Storm offered us! And don’t forget to comment if you have any suggestions or fixes for The Decklist Out! Here’s the new The Decklist Out.

  1. Esa do you think highly of yourself?

  2. No love for eels...I see. How is it not in the hottest decks section? And the two eel decks you have are terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Do you think there is a place in Tier 1 decks for Victini EX and Victory Piece or is he too fragile? Also, with the new format (Lasers & Virbank) can your deck be successful w/o Keldeo EX?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I miss Tornadus EX/Lugia EX here as I believe it's a good deck probaly even Tier 1

  5. Good points everyone! I will consider Lugia EX deck after I have seen some results from States OR make an article about it as I don't believe it isn't that good of a deck. I haven't tested Lugia EX enough to give you any kind of list. Hopefully that will change soon.

Thanks for Anonymous2 for commenting on the Eelektrik lists, I'll edit them right away, it seems that I forgot to edit them before posting!

    1. Do you think there might be a rouge deck in the states that turns the table??

  6. Im sorry man but some of your lists are not very good imo. It looks like the only one you got sorta right is the blastoise varient, but its kinda hard to muk that up. I cant beleave you dont see potential in Lugia ex! Of course you cant base a deck around him and make it tier 1 but im telling you now most of the decks that win states this year will have at least 1 Lugia in them. Also it would have been nice to see the reasons why you chose those decks to have such an impact in the meta, eg Landorus varients will be good because Darkrai will be heavyly played thanks to virbank lasers. Anyways thanks for your contribution to the game anyways!

  7. your garbador list has 4 lasers and a tornadus but no virbanks?

  8. Hey, this site is awesome! Your input is awesome!!! Some of these comments are garbage, please continue to ignore them. I have won several tournaments and may even disagree with a little bit of your information or opinion but I recognize solid conclusions when I see them. In all your batting average is .990 (99%) and that's better than everyone I know, myself including. Please keep up the amazing work and sharing of information that helps promote competition.

  9. Great work Esa. However, I'm not sure why Darkrai/Lasers are not categorised as the hottest deck because I definitely think it has some serious power to it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anonymous1: Depends on what is considered as rogue. There are new decks popping up in the Regionals for sure, but I think no deck can be called as a "rogue" atm since the metagame hasn't formed yet.

Anonymous2: Of course not the decks aren't even nearly the best out there. The point of The Decklist Out is to provide people a basic list of each deck, so that they can change it to their liking. Even I don't have time to test 20 different decks!

And when it comes to Lugia EX; yes I don't see potential in it at the moment. Darkrai EX can't afford running Plasma energy due to the Dark Patches, Eelektrik can't afford running Plasma Energy due to the Dynamotor and Rayquaza's Fire energy cost and Blastoise doesn't want to run Plasma Energy simply, because Kyurem EX with Lighting energy is better. Lugia EX is a beast in theory, but I think it's good to remember how important consistency is in the current metagame, because the metagame is so darn fast. At the moment, I don't see a spot for Lugia EX in any of the hottest decks of the moment.

Anonymous3: Thanks for the fix! I was sure, I missed something in some of the lists.

Anonymous4: Thanks for the kind words!

Anonymous5: Great point! I'll update the hottest now list when the States results come in and I truly see, where the metagame is going. I like to keep The Decklist Out up-to-date and don't really like speculating with it before I see some real results.

Thanks for the comments everyone, and please comment if you see anything wrong with the lists, after all this is for all the players in the world!

  11. I think there should be Plasmaklang without durants too because it seems to be more played than durant variant.

  12. esa do you happen to know anything about the next rotation? when will it happen and which sets will be rotated?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Rotations do "always" take place after World Championships. And as I don't believe, this season will be an exception, so I believe that the rotation will take place 1st of September in 2013. What the sets available will be? That is always a question that can't be answered before the official rotation info is released.

      Delete
    2. about the information for the rotation, will it be announced on September 1st, or a couple of weeks earlier so that players will have enough time to prepare?

  14. Hey Deck Out, my friends and I are really new to the Pokemon TCG and recently bought your three "hottest decks" as our first decks. I bought the Landorus EX/Mewtwo EX/Tornadus EX/Tech deck and was wondering how it fared against the Hammer time deck and Blastoise Deck? Is there one of the three decks that usually comes out ahead?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It really depends. A Blastoise deck with manaphy could beat Hammer time and Landorus crushes Darkrai (hammer time) and Sableye. But overall Blastoise is BDIF (best deck in the format) I only have experience with Hammer Time so I am not the most reliable source but that's what I think!

      Delete
  15. Do you think any of these decks will be viable once deoxys comes out?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Will you please explain the reasoning behind the addition of Meoletta to the Quad Sigiliyph deck? You mentioned in a previous post that it would have been a better choice then Sableye, but my concern is that it would get catcher KO-ed. Why not run another Mewtwo EX instead?

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Darkrai/Landorus/Terrakion deck only has 59 cards.
